Prisca Githuka: Mother’s Day is a Reminder for Women to Prioritize Health and Early Cancer Screening

Prisca Githuka, Cancer Advocate, Founder of Pink Hearts Cancer Support Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:

Happy Mother’s Day to all the women who hold families together, show up for everyone, carry invisible burdens quietly and still find strength to care for others every single day.

But today, I also want to gently remind women something we rarely hear enough:

Please take care of your health too.

In cancer advocacy work, you meet so many women who delayed going for screening or ignored symptoms because there was school fees to pay, children to raise, work to do, or simply no time to think about themselves.

Many women are used to being caregivers that they forget they also deserve care.

This Mother’s Day, may we normalize women seeking help early, going for regular screening, resting when needed and speaking openly about their health without fear or guilt.

Early detection saves lives.

And healthy mothers, sisters, daughters and caregivers strengthen entire communities.

Happy Mother’s Day.”
