Prisca Githuka, Cancer Advocate, Founder of Pink Hearts Cancer Support Foundation, shared a post by on LinkedIn:
“‘What comes to your mind when you hear the word cancer?’
That’s the question that opened our engagement at the Seventh Day School of Prophecy in Nyabara Ibere, Nyamira County.
Before sharing any information, Pink Hearts Cancer Support Foundation chose to listen first.
And the responses told a story which included
a mix of understanding, myths, fear and unanswered questions.
That became our starting point.
Because for us, awareness is not a one-way conversation.
It is a continuous and intentional effort to meet communities where they are any time, anywhere and walk with them toward understanding.
At Pink Hearts Cancer Support Foundation, this is our commitment:
To take cancer education beyond hospitals and into churches, communities, and everyday spaces consistently, relentlessly and with purpose.
In this unique church setting, we had honest conversations about what cancer is, what it is not, and why early detection matters without separating it from faith.
And as always, we moved from conversation to action.
We demonstrated self-breast examination for both women and men.
Because cancer does not discriminate.
Because awareness must go beyond words.
Because knowing what to do can save a life.
As a survivor and patient advocate, I believe real impact happens when awareness becomes a movement one that reaches people wherever they are, again and again, until knowledge turns into action.
This is what Pink Hearts stands for.”
