Princess Dina Mired: Tobacco is the Primary Global Driver of Cancer and Non-Communicable Diseases

Princess Dina Mired, Past President of the Union for International Cancer Control, Member of WHO Expert Technical Group for the Elimination of Cervical Cancer, shared a post on LinkedIn:

‘Tobacco is by far the public health number one enemy that we have for cancer and for several other non-communicable diseases, including cardiovascular diseases. So by far, the tobacco industry is the enemy, public enemy number one. Globally, it’s a very large proportion of all cancers are directly related to tobacco consumption in it all shapes and forms, is smoked but also chewed, used orally and so on.’
