Pramesh CS: Leadership Lesson from the World Cup

Pramesh CS, Director of the Tata Memorial Hospital, shared a post by Football Tweet, on X, adding:

“If you want to learn what leadership is all about, this is a good example.

  1. Step up
  2. Be brave
  3. Don’t worry if you fail.”

Quoting Football Tweet’s post:

“During the Germany-Paraguay penalty shootout, with the score at 3-3, Joshua Kimmich asked Leon Goretzka twice if he was willing to take Germany’s sixth penalty – the kick that ultimately proved decisive.

Goretzka declined both times.

Waldemar Anton, Nathaniel Brown and Malick Thiaw also refused. Instead, Jonathan Tah bravely stepped up to take the first penalty of his professional career.

He missed.

You should never criticise the player who accepts the responsibility when others won’t. That’s why we shouldn’t blame Tah for missing the decisive spot-kick.

Criticism should be directed at those who refused to take it, despite their experience.”
