Powerful Stories from Survivors Highlighted the Urgent Need for Change
National Cancer Institute of Kenya shared on X:
“At the recent National Cancer Summit, powerful stories from survivors highlighted the urgent need for change. They shared the emotional and financial scars of their battles, emphasizing that a lack of support and understanding can be as painful as the disease itself.
Faith leaders and community advocates at the summit stressed the importance of embracing patients and educating communities. Cancer is not a curse, and no one should have to fight it alone. Youth advocates also called for cancer awareness to be part of the school curriculum and for us to stand against industries like tobacco that fuel the disease.
The consensus was clear: Cancer is a societal issue that requires everyone to work together – from policy reform to cultural understanding—to ensure every Kenyan has the support they need.”
