“The future of cancer research in Africa is not somewhere in the distance; it is being built now.
We witnessed this process firsthand at the Future of Cancer Research in Africa Summit: Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Impact, held on 3-4 September 2026 in Nairobi.
As the saying goes, the best way to own the future is not merely to dream about it, but to help shape it.
It was an honor to serve as Rapporteur for the Institutional Governance Working Group, contributing to discussions on leadership structures, ethics coordination and accountability frameworks needed to sustain cancer research on the continent.
Africa best understands her cancer burden.. and Africa is therefore best placed to design, lead and scale innovative solutions that respond to her unique realities, needs and priorities. The future of cancer research in Africa should be Africa-led, Africa-owned and globally supported.”
