Phoebe Ongadi: Breaking Barriers to Advance Women’s Care in NCDs

Phoebe Ongadi, Executive Director at Kenyan Network of Cancer Organizations, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Bridge the access gap for the woman’s survival.

On this International Women’s Day, glaring gender disparities in NCDs remain a harsh reality. Strengthening health systems to prioritize women’s care as highlighted during the World Health Summit session on “Breaking Barriers to Advance Women’s Care in NCDs”… is essential to ensure every woman has a timely access to the treatment she needs.

Closing the gender gap in NCDs is not just a health imperative; it is a matter of equity and survival, with women at the center. It was an inspiring session with experts: Melinda Crane-Roehrs, Ilona Kickbusch, Prof. Dr. med. Markus Kosch, Dr. med. Sara Nasser, MRCOG, Alarcos Cieza (WHO), and Stine Bosse who came together to tackle the gender disparities in non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Women’s health equity is not a privilege; it is a right. Wishing you a Happy International Women’s Day. Break barriers to advance women’s health and equity.”
