Peter Slavin։ Announcing Ravi Thadhani as Executive Vice President, Chief Physician Executive, and Dean of the Medical Faculty

Peter Slavin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Health System, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“When we launched a search for the next leader of our academic enterprise, we realized that the strongest candidate was already in our midst.

I am thrilled to announce that Ravi Thadhani, MD, MPH, will serve in the inaugural role of executive vice president, chief physician executive and dean of the Medical Faculty, effective Sept. 1.

In this role, Dr. Thadhani will bring our clinical, research and education missions into closer alignment, leading department chairs, institute directors, and vice deans, and lead efforts to improve quality and safety across our health system.

Dr. Thadhani’s background in academic medicine, his research in nephrology and preeclampsia, and his leadership experience at Harvard, Mass General Brigham, Emory, and here make him ideally suited for this role and this moment.

I also want to recognize his remarkable predecessor. Shlomo Melmed, MB, ChB, shaped this institution for 28 years as dean. He will continue as dean emeritus and executive adviser, and his influence will continue to help shape the future of Cedars-Sinai.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Thadhani to this role.”
