Peter Slavin: Cedars-Sinai Opens Cayton BRCA Center for Coordinated Genetic Cancer Care

Peter Slavin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Health System shared a post on LinkedIn:

Cedars-Sinai is opening the Cayton BRCA Center, a single location where people with BRCA1 and BRCA2 genetic mutations can manage their cancer risk through coordinated care.

The Cayton BRCA Center brings genetic counseling, screening, fertility planning, prevention and treatment together, often in a single day. This expedited process will be a positive change for patients, many of whom previously had to schedule multiple appointments with specialists while waiting weeks for results.

Made possible by a $30 million gift from the Cayton Goldrich Family Foundation, the center is led by Cristina Ferrone, MD, chair of the Jim and Eleanor Randall Department of Surgery. Her team has recruited specialists within Cedars Sinai and from across the country to build a true home for patients and families navigating BRCA-related risk and advance research in this area.

I am grateful for the Cayton’s generosity that made the center possible and proud of the teams creating a more coordinated and compassionate path for the patients we serve.”
