“It’s not everyday that your clinical trial receives such a glowing commendations from an editorial in the NEJM Group.
‘By enrolling more than 140,000 participants 50 to 77 years of age in less than 1 year, randomly assigning them to three annual rounds of multicancer early-detection screening plus usual care (intervention group) or to usual care alone (control group), and following them for 3 years, with high retention, the trial is a tour de force that will be followed with interest for years to come.
In addition, the investigators managed to enroll participants almost equally across the socioeconomic spectrum in the United Kingdom – something that few large trials have been able to do – which reduced the potential loss of generalizability from recruiting the better-educated ‘worried well’.’
