“Every day, the Peter Mac @ Home team is taking world-class cancer care beyond the hospital walls and into patient homes.
In June the team achieved a new record, completing 1,855 home visits to 733 patients. That included 528 chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments, 521 post-operative surgical visits, and 162 post-radiation therapy visits.
It’s an extraordinary effort by a dedicated specialist nursing team who travel across Melbourne so more people can receive expert cancer care in the comfort, familiarity and safety of their own homes.
For many patients and their families, being able to recover or receive treatment at home means less time travelling, more time with loved ones, and greater comfort during what is an incredibly challenging time.
