Advancing Neuroblastoma Research: $400K Scholar Hope Grant Awarded – Penn State College of Medicine

Penn State College of Medicine shared a post on LinkedIn:

Hyundai Hope on Wheels helped advance pediatric cancer research at Penn State College of Medicine with a $400,000 Scholar Hope Grant to Giselle Sholler, MD, division chief of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, today.

Dr. Sholler has dedicated more than two decades to improving outcomes for children with neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer. Her research has led to groundbreaking clinical trials, including the development of DFMO (now approved by the FDA), a drug that dramatically reduces relapse rates and gives children a chance at a brighter future.

The grant was presented alongside a handprint ceremony, where patients receiving treatment for pediatric cancer added their painted handprints to a white Hyundai vehicle — a powerful symbol of hope and solidarity in the fight against childhood cancer.

Since 2011, Penn State Health Children’s Hospital and Penn State College of Medicine have received more than $3 million in support from Hyundai Hope On Wheels, fueling life-changing research and care for children and families.”
