“I am priviliged to have been invited by UNITE Parliamentarians Network for Global Health and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung together with nine other parliamentarians, present or former from ten countries to a field-trip about Women’s Health, in Geneva.
First Day, we visited United Nations and World Health Organization meeting with Ivana Milovanovic, Head of Multilateral and Stakeholder Engagement, Alia El-Yassir, Director of Gender, Equity and Diversity and Anna Coates, Gender Equality Technical Lead on challenges about Women’s Health.
The incredible Jeremy Farrar Assistant Director General WHO, held a very inspiring speech about resilience, responsibility and values in a changing world and the WHO reform.
After that, we could listen to a whole team at WHO working with cancer and NCDs, Alarcos Cieza Prebo Barango Megan Doherty Santiago Millan Andre ilbawi and Thesandree (Tess) Padayachee Especially useful for me, as Member of the Cancer Mission Board, European Commission.
The day continued with UN Women and Sofia Calltorp Director and Pernille Fenger Director United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with a focus on sexual and reproductive health rights.
A short walk and then we met Unitaid which is working with making health products available and affordable for people who need them most. Temu Avafia, Deputy Director, Cintia Dantas and Jeffrey Smith presenter their important work.
This busy day ended with a great dinner where we had the pleasure to meet our countries ambassadors, for me it was the first time I met Magnus Hellgren.
