Paul Grogan: Examining the Historical Evolution of Cancer Policy in Australia

Paul Grogan, Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney, School of Public Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Congratulations Helena Rodi for leading this landmark, comprehensive chronicle of the history of cancer control policy in Australia, with a focus on equity. Lots of good outcomes – and opportunities for improvement. (You know what they say about learning from history…)

What would a sequel to this story look like if written in 2050 – if we pursued a goal of reducing mortality rates by 50% between now and then? Extremely ambitious, but more best buys in cancer control, fast-tracking established evidence into practice and reducing inequities would get things moving (which is part of our vision at The Cancer Elimination Collaboration (CEC), Sydney School of Public Health, University of Sydney).”
