Partha Basu: The Promise of Introducing HPV Vaccines for Girls in India Still Remains Unfulfilled

Partha Basu, Head of Early Detection, Prevention and Infections Branch at IARC/WHO, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Another Cervical Cancer Awareness Month is almost gone, another National Cancer Awareness Day celebrated in India recently.

The promise of introduction of HPV vaccines for girls in India – the largest contributor to the global burden of cervical cancer – still remains unfulfilled. Each year of delay adds 160,000 girls to the cohort newly at risk of cervical cancer over their lifetimes  in the country.

Read the latest publication from International Agency for Research on Cancer / World Health Organization in Vaccine.

Great work by Ravivarman Lakshmanasamy and Sathishrajaa Palaniraja.”
