Parinaz Mehdipour: Inspired by Nobel Laureate Katalin Karikó’s Journey and Advice

Parinaz Mehdipour, Group leader at Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, University of Oxford, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“It was a privilege to meet Prof. Katalin Karikó, Nobel Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine (2023), today at the Ludwig Institute in Oxford and hear about her remarkable journey as a biologist.

Prof. Karikó was awarded the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, together with Drew Weissman, for their discoveries on nucleoside base modifications that enabled the development of effective mRNA vaccines against COVID-19, a breakthrough that has transformed modern medicine and opened new possibilities for treating many diseases.

What resonated with me most was not just her groundbreaking scientific achievements, but her simple yet powerful advice: don’t dwell on failures and rejections, focus on what you can do next.
