“How hard is it to be a mom, a wife, a professor, and a doctor all at once?
The honest answer is simple: each role is a full-time job on its own.
In Armenia, I live this reality every day as a mother, a practicing pathologist, Acting Chair of the Department of Pathology at Yerevan State Medical University, and Co-Founder of HistoGen Center of Pathology.
My professional calendar is constantly full, filled with diagnostics, teaching, leadership decisions, and building systems that make pathology stronger. But my commitment to my family is just as non-negotiable.
This juggle is not unique to me. It is the daily reality for many women in leadership. And the truth is, you cannot be 100 percent perfect in every role, every single day.
The secret is not balance. It is prioritization and support. I rely deeply on my team at the hospital, my colleagues at the university, and my support system at home. Empowering others and trusting their expertise is essential.
Delegation is not a weakness. It is a sign of strong and sustainable leadership. Motherhood adds a powerful perspective to my work. It reminds me why compassion matters, why time matters, and why every diagnosis carries a human story.
I choose to show up fully in the role that needs me most in that moment: some for leadership, some for teaching, and others… for simply being present at home. To all the women building careers and families at the same time: your dedication is a real strength.
You do not have to choose between family and success. You can redefine both.”
