Paolo Ascierto, Director of the Department of Melanoma, Cancer Immunotherapy and Development Therapeutics at the National Cancer Institute IRCCS Pascale Foundation, shared on LinkedIn:
“Pleased to share our latest publication from the NEO-CESQ trial, investigating perioperative cemiplimab in patients with resectable cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC).
Beyond the encouraging clinical outcomes, with 44% major pathological responses and 36% pathological complete responses, our translational analyses identified promising immune biomarkers associated with treatment response.
Particularly exciting is NeoSquamos, a novel 10-gene signature showing promising potential for predicting recurrence-free survival (AUC 0.838).
These findings bring us another step closer to personalizing immunotherapy in cSCC, identifying patients most likely to benefit and those who may require alternative strategies.
An important step forward, with prospective validation as our next challenge!
