Paolo Ascierto: Donation is an Act of Responsibility and Altruism

Paolo Ascierto, Director of Department of Melanoma, Cancer Immunotherapy and Development Therapeutics at the National Cancer Institute IRCCS Fondazione Pascale, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Organ donation represents one of the highest expressions of solidarity and altruism.

It means offering a renewed opportunity for life, care, and future to those awaiting a transplant.

With the opening of the Transplant Office at the National Cancer Institute IRCCS Fondazione Pascale, under the leadership of General Director Maurizio di Mauro and Scientific Director Alfredo Budillon, the Institute further strengthens its commitment to promoting information, raising awareness, and providing guidance both to those approaching the subject of donation and to those experiencing the wait for a transplant.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the extraordinary team who, with expertise and dedication, contribute every day to achieving remarkable results for the benefit of patients.

Personal experience also attests to the profound impact of this act: thanks to a corneal transplant, I was able to regain sight in both eyes, with the opportunity to continue practicing, sharing, and fully living my professional and personal life.

Donation is an act of responsibility and altruism that leaves an indelible mark on the lives of both recipients and donors.”
