“Thank you to OncoDaily for setting the stage for an exciting ASCO 2026 by hosting Grand Rounds: Sarcoma Edition. And thank you to the expert panelists – Dr. Jones of Royal Marsden, Dr. Martin-Broto of Fundación Jiménez Díaz, Dr. D’Angelo of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Dr. Loong of CUHK – for delivering an excellent discussion previewing the themes likely to shape sarcoma conversations over the weekend.
Themes to look out for IMHO at ASCO26:
- biomarkers: extending utility beyond diagnosis, with translational work focused on discovery of predictive and resistance biomarkers, characterization of responder subsets, and a strategic focus on where next-generation sequencing (NGS) can provide clinically actionable value
- combo approaches – chemo + immunotherapy (IO): deeper omics-based characterization to identify who benefits, refine combination and maintenance strategies, and optimize the balance between immunogenic cell death (chemotherapy effectiveness) and preservation of antitumor immunity (to maintain IO activity) to improve outcomes
- t-cell & adoptive cell therapies (ACTs): refining established ACT approaches such as TCR and TIL therapy, and strategically extending them with complementary modalities, including mRNA neoantigen vaccine strategies, targeting of membrane-associated tumor antigens, and exploitation of neoantigens that are either patient-specific or broadly shared across tumors
- ADCs: optimizing the interplay among antigen, linker, and payload, exploring next-generation approaches such as bispecifics, and improving our understanding of mechanisms of resistance
A strong start and an excellent preview of what we can expect ahead for sarcoma research at ASCO 2026.”
