Orges Spahiu: When Courage Has the Face of a Child

Orges Spahiu, Head of Radiation Oncology Department, Oncology Service at Mother Teresa University Hospital Center, shared on LinkedIn:

When Courage Has the Face of a Child.

At just 10 years old, Arsi faced a major challenge: Stage IV Hodgkin lymphoma. After responding very well to chemotherapy, he reached the final step of his treatment journey – consolidation radiotherapy at the Radiotherapy Unit of Mother Teresa University Hospital Center, the only center in Albania providing radiotherapy for pediatric patients.

Arsi was treated using the new linear accelerator, operational since May, which enables modern, highly precise and safe radiotherapy treatments.

To make his journey a little less frightening, our team transformed his immobilization mask into a Spider-Man mask, carefully painted especially for him. Today, as Arsi completes radiotherapy, another surprise awaits him: a sports outfit bearing the name of his favorite football player, Neymar.

It is the end of a treatment, but above all, the beginning of a new chapter. Arsi’s story is one of a child’s courage, a family’s trust, and a dedicated multidisciplinary team working every day to combine advanced technology with compassionate care.

Because for us, every child’s smile at the end of treatment is a victory.
