“Welcome Angela Tyre as our Treasurer and Trustee.
Angela brings a great set of skills and experience to Oncogene Cancer Research. She trained as a nurse, spent more than 30 years working in finance, and, following her own twin diagnosis of EGFR exon 19 deletion lung cancer and thyroid cancer, has become an active patient advocate.
Since her diagnosis, Angela has been involved in lung cancer research and advocacy, including patient and public involvement at Glasgow Beatson Cancer Hospital and contributing her experience to clinical research. She regularly attends BRITISH THORACIC ONCOLOGY GROUP (BTOG), Lung Cancer Europe and Cancer Research UK (CRUK) conferences and recently completed WECAN advocacy training.
Angela is passionate about tackling the stigma around lung cancer and making sure research leads to better treatments, more options and a better quality of life for people living with the disease.
As our Treasurer and Trustee, she’ll bring her experience in finance, healthcare and advocacy to help strengthen the charity and keep the patient voice at the centre of our work.
Welcome, Angela. We’re very glad to have you with us.”
