The Dorcas Cancer Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn by Oluwakemi Atolagbe, Clinical Treatment Navigator at The Dorcas Cancer Foundation, adding:
“Welldone, Oluwakemi Atolagbe.
Your words capture exactly why patient navigation is central to our work at TDCF. Behind every statistic are real children, families, and stories of resilience.
We are grateful for your commitment and proud to see this impact recognized at SNOSSA 2025.”
Quoting Oluwakemi Atolagbe’s post:
“It was an honor and a privilege to stand on the stage at the SNOSSA Conference 2025 and share a piece of my journey.
For me, this wasn’t just about slides or data. It was about telling the story of families who fight every single day to get care for their children… and the story of what it means to walk with them as a patient navigator.
When I looked out into that room, I thought of the countless parents I’ve sat with in crowded waiting rooms, the ones who’ve sold everything just to keep treatment going, and the children whose laughter somehow continues even in the hardest moments.
Standing there, I realized that this journey has shaped me as much as I’ve helped to shape it. Patient navigation isn’t just my work, it is my calling. It has taught me resilience, compassion, and the power of showing up for others even when the system feels overwhelming.
Thank you to the clinicians who work with me to support their patients Dr. Omotayo Ojo, Dr. Adeseye Akinsete, Dr. Olusegun Olusoji. Thank you to Dr. Adedayo Joseph, whose mentorship continues to light my path. Thank you to Prof. Kristin Schoeder for the opportunity to share my work on the SNOSSA stage. Your encouragement and support means more than I can put into words.
This moment reminded me that I am part of something bigger a global movement for children with cancer. And I am more committed than ever to keep walking this path, one child, one family, one step at a time.”
