Olubukola Ayodele: Global Impact of Vanessa Moss Prize Abstract Submissions

Olubukola Ayodele, Breast Cancer Lead at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“We are thrilled to announce the impressive global impact of this year’s Vanessa Moss Prize abstract submissions, showcasing the extraordinary commitment to advancing equity in cancer care worldwide.

This year, we received a remarkable number of entries from 13 different countries: the United Kingdom, India, Iraq, Uganda, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, South Africa, Canada, Nigeria, Pakistan, Egypt, and Switzerland. This diverse participation underscores the collective commitment to addressing disparities in cancer treatment and outcomes on an international scale.

Winning abstracts were chosen from contributors in India, the UK, Nigeria, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico. These outstanding submissions will be published in the prestigious ecancer journal, ensuring that their vital research reaches a broad audience. Additionally, the winners will present their innovative work at the upcoming Cancer Health Disparities: Awareness to Action event on November 28, 2025, at Conway Hall in London. This event will serve as an important platform for advancing discussions on cancer health equity.

We extend our gratitude to all who submitted their work. The judging panel faced a challenging task due to the exceptional quality and diversity of the submissions. For those not selected this year, your contributions remain invaluable to the global efforts to reduce inequalities in cancer diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes.

We also wish to express our sincere appreciation to our dedicated judges, who volunteered their time and expertise to assess the submissions. Furthermore, we thank our friends at eCancer for their partnership and commitment to enhancing the visibility of research on cancer care inequalities.

The submissions and collaborations we witnessed this year serve as a reminder of the remarkable global initiatives underway to make equitable cancer care a reality for everyone. Thank you to Aruni Ghose for his help in collating the abstracts. He will be facilitating the continued critical discussions and celebrations of our winners’ achievements on 28 November.

We encourage everyone interested in improving equity in cancer care to register and join us in London for what promises to be an enriching and action-oriented event.”
