“Turning Europe’s Cancer Mission into real benefits for patients
Yesterday, the second phase of the European Network of Cancer Mission Hubs Project ECHoS was launched.
The first phase has already delivered important results. With recognised Cancer Mission Hubs in 17 countries, ECHoS has laid strong foundations for national, regional and local action against cancer.
Now we move to the next phase.
With €15 million in EU funding over five years, this new phase will strengthen the capacity, sustainability and impact of Cancer Mission Hubs across Europe.
It will support training, peer learning, pilot projects, new partnerships and stronger cooperation with other European initiatives – helping bring the EU Cancer Mission and Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan closer to people on the ground.
Cancer remains one of Europe’s greatest health challenges.
That is why we must continue working together to ease its burden, improve survival rates and ensure high-quality, patient-centred care for everyone who needs it.
Innovation will also be central to this effort. From biotechnology and advanced therapies to faster clinical research and new medicines for unmet medical needs, Europe must turn scientific breakthroughs into real progress for patients.
My congratulations and thanks to the researchers, doctors, patient organisations, public authorities and all ECHoS partners who made the first phase a success.”
