“The NSW Cancer Summit 2025 was an exceptional two-day conference that connected voices from across the cancer care continuum – clinicians, researchers, policymakers, advocates, and people with lived experience—all united by a shared purpose: to improve outcomes and equity in cancer care.
What was particularly notable was the recognition of inequity: the burden of cancer is not equally shared; cancer treats people disproportionately.
We heard about solutions: innovative research, community-led programs, and national initiatives. From precision medicine to culturally safe care models, the energy in the room was focused on what’s working and what’s next.
During the powerful closing panel featuring trailblazing women leaders, one comment particularly resonated: ‘Systems for cancer care don’t work in isolation. The best science happens at intersections, not in silos’. This summed up the conference: the spirit of collaboration and integration was felt in every session.
Grateful to have been part of this conference and to have had the opportunity to showcase our research on ‘Return-to-work of Cancer Survivors: A Scoping Review’ revealing the barriers and facilitators influencing survivor’s ability to re-enter the workforce. Thank you Cancer Institute NSW and NSW Cancer Summit 2025.”
