Norman Ng: From Molecule to Meaning – A Journey from Pharmaceutical Industry to Patient Advocacy

Norman Ng, Director of Patient Advocacy and Public Affairs at Healthcare Thinkers, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“From Molecule to Meaning:

Today, I stepped into the classroom of the University of Hong Kong once again to share my life journey with the young pharmacy students, and my heart is filled with gratitude.

For more than three decades, I worked in the pharmaceutical industry, witnessing the birth of drugs from molecules to clinical application. Then, I was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. As a patient who has personally benefited from innovative therapies, and now as a patient advocate speaking up for patients in Hong Kong, this dual identity has given me the most profound understanding of the mission of pharmacists.

Pharmacists are never just ‘people who dispense medicines’. They are the bridge connecting science and life, and between drugs and patients. Every pill you hold in your hands carries the hope of a family; every professional explanation you provide illuminates the path of cancer patients fighting the disease.

May this new generation of pharmacy students always keep awe for life and dedication to professionalism, root themselves in Hong Kong, serve every citizen with expertise and warmth, and become the strongest guardian force of Hong Kong’s healthcare system.”
