“Walking Together with Love: Gratitude and Encouragement at the Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony
Today, I stand on the stage of the Hong Kong Cancer Fund 2025 Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony with a heart full of gratitude. As a cancer survivor and convener of the Hong Kong Lung Cancer Patient Concern Group, this moment holds profound meaning for me.
I wish to extend my deepest thanks to the Hong Kong Cancer Fund for your years of selfless dedication, especially to your social work team, who have organized countless meaningful activities for patients. We all understand that cancer patients need more than just medical treatment and drugs – what matters most is the care and companionship from society, and the chance to use our own experiences to help others.
What moves me even more is that Hong Kong is blessed with an outstanding group of medical professionals. Thank you to Dr. Lam Bing, Dr. Anita Lo, Dr Johnny and all the dedicated healthcare professionals who have also stepped forward as volunteers to continue supporting patients with your expertise and warmth beyond the clinic.
A special thank you also goes to Iris, Head of Service at the Hong Kong Cancer Fund, for leading your team to build such a loving and empowering platform for the cancer community.
Every volunteer, every healthcare worker, every patient is a glimmer of light on this journey against cancer. When we come together, we become a sun that illuminates each other. May we continue to walk hand in hand, passing on hope through our experiences, and warming more lives with love.”
