Norman Ng, Director of Patient Advocacy and Public Affairs at Healthcare Thinkers, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“A Thank-You Card, A Tribute — An Open Letter to Hong Kong’s Healthcare Workers
In the midst of growing pressure on Hong Kong’s healthcare system, I’d like to share a message from a fellow cancer patient, Sandy. She received treatment at the Clinical Oncology Department of Tuen Mun Hospital and wrote:
‘I’ve been battling illness for over five years. Today, I was fortunate to meet a good doctor during my follow-up. He left a deep impression on me — a truly kind and compassionate physician. He carefully reviewed my reports and analyzed my condition, giving me a sense of peace and reassurance.’
This card is more than a personal note — it’s a tribute from the patient community to our healthcare professionals. As the convener of the Hong Kong Lung Cancer Patient Concern Group, I’ve witnessed the trust and connection between patients and caregivers.
Despite systemic challenges, we believe healthcare workers remain committed to helping patients. Their dedication goes beyond treatment — it’s the warmth of humanity.
Let us honor their efforts, recognize their sacrifices, and stand with them.”
