“Deeply encouraged by the launch of HKU HTAHUB, a transformative interdisciplinary centre that addresses a core pain point within Hong Kong’s evolving healthcare system: the lack of a unified, independent academic home for localised Health Technology Assessment.
Built around three core pillars – rigorous applied research, structured professional training and multi-sector collaboration – HTAHUB bridges public health, clinical practice, pharmacology, governance and patient perspectives. Its work spans early HTA for innovators, local cost-effectiveness threshold research, strategic purchasing frameworks and equity-focused evaluation, delivering policy-ready evidence to back formulary updates, IMACE implementation and long-term health system sustainability.
Led by a cross-faculty HKU expert team, the hub also offers workshops, video-based learning resources, and annual symposia to upskill local and regional HTA talent. This creates a vital two-way link between Hong Kong and global HTA networks, lifting our city’s influence in Asia’s value-based healthcare agenda.
