Nisreen Qatamish, CEO of King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, shared on LinkedIn:
“Cancer is not only a health issue. It is also a labour and social protection issue.
While advances in cancer care are helping people survive, many survivors still face the risk of losing their jobs, income, and financial security.
The evidence is clear.
Protecting workers with cancer requires more than quality healthcare.
It requires:
- modern labour and social protection laws
- employment protection
- caregiver support, and
- social safety nets
that allow people to recover without sacrificing their livelihoods.
Call for all relevant Policy Makers: no one has to choose between fighting cancer and protecting their future.”
