Nigel Brockton, Director of Science Programs at Sarcoma Foundation of America, shared on LinkedIn:
“Sarcoma Advocacy Day!
Today is Sarcoma Foundation of America Sarcoma Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. We will be meeting with Members of Congress and their advisors to demand action.
We have four specific policy priorities. These are not vague aspirations; these are demands because each has a direct impact on the lives of people facing sarcoma.
- Increase Cancer Research Funding – without research we will treat patients the same tomorrow as we do today, and for too many facing sarcoma, that is simply not good enough.
- Advance the Clinical Trials Modernization Act (S. 4440/H.R.3521) – because clinical trials are often the best chance for sarcoma patients to access ‘effective’ therapies but access and participation barriers are currently prohibitive for many.
- Preserve and expand access to telehealth (H.R. 4206/S.1261 & H.R. 5081/S.2709) – because sarcoma patients need access to sarcoma experts who may be 100s or 1000s of miles away!
- Advance the Comprehensive Cancer Survivorship Act (H.R. 8839) – because the challenges of cancer survivorship begin at diagnosis and can last a lifetime.
These are four tangible actions that lawmakers must support now… because, for many people facing sarcoma, waiting is not an option.
Please share and, ideally, tag your local members of Congress!”
