Nicola Fusco, Director, Division of Pathology and Somatic Molecular Diagnostics at IEO – European Institute of Oncology, shared on LinkedIn:
“Some of the most exciting advances in pathology begin with an apparently simple thing: the right people working together in the right environment.
This is the R&D team of our Division of Pathology and Somatic Molecular Diagnostics at the IEO – European Institute of Oncology․
Their work sits at the intersection of academic research and clinical pathology, where access to high-quality biospecimens and advanced molecular technologies can turn a scientific question into something that ultimately matters for patients.
Every day, this team works across disciplines and across borders.
We develop research with academic groups around the world, build scientific partnerships with pharma and biotech, and contribute to translational programs that connect our biobank with molecular pathology and the extraordinary amount of information contained in human tissue.
What I value most is the culture behind all this.
Curiosity. Scientific rigor. Scientists with the willingness to share ideas and challenge assumptions.
Pathology has become an increasingly important engine of biomedical innovation.
Tissue is where biology becomes visible, where biomarkers (including liquid and computational biomarkers) acquire meaning, where many of the questions behind precision oncology can finally be investigated in the right clinical-biological context.
Our R&D activities are coordinated by Konstantinos Venetis, with the invaluable collaboration of Davide Vacirca, Bottiglieri Luca, Giuseppina Bonizzi and Gabriele Luca Citelli.
Leading this group together with Elena Guerini Rocco is a privilege, especially because R&D is mainly about people: their expertise, their questions, their energy their ability to build something together.
Proud of this team and excited about the science ahead.”
