” ‘Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health is the most shocking and inhumane because it often results in physical death’
Dr. MLK Jr’s quote resonates today in the face of this inexcusable cruelty. My mom ran the HIV and teen pregnacy prevention program for Hillsborough county (before it was shut down by Jeb Bush) which was one of my first volunteering experiences, and part of what inspired me to pursue medicine. I witnessed so much pain, and many people are still suffering. To imagine the most vulnerable people affected by HIV will not receive care they deserve, that everyone deserves, is deeply appalling to me.
This is a societal failure, one of far too many today, and a reminder we must bend the arc toward justice.
Thousands to lose access to HIV drugs with new cuts.”
