National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) shared on LinkedIn:
“Your fall harvest can do more than fill your plate. Try these four seasonal favorites from NFCR’s Cancer-Fighting Food series:
KALE: Kale is loaded with antioxidants. Early research suggests that eating foods rich in vitamin K, like kale, may lower your overall cancer risk.
APPLES: The fiber and plant compounds in apples team up with the bacteria in your gut. Together, they may lower your risk of several cancers, including lung, bowel, mouth, digestive tract, and breast cancer.
PUMPKIN: Your body turns the antioxidants in pumpkin into vitamin A, which one long-term study linked to a lower risk of skin cancer. Pumpkin’s fiber also supports digestion, which may lower the risk of colon cancer.
WALNUTS: When you eat walnuts, your body breaks down a compound in them into new substances that may help protect against breast cancer.
No single food prevents cancer, but a colorful, plant-forward plate is a good place to start.
