Advancing Neuroblastoma Research Through Immune Cell Mapping – The Institute of Cancer Research

The Institute of Cancer Research shared a post on LinkedIn:

“The ability to identify how specific types of immune cells are ordered within tumours is crucial to understanding their role in neuroblastoma.

The number and type of immune cells present dictate a tumour’s future in terms of progression or response to treatment. Understanding these interactions is a vital step in improving the outlook for young patients.

Dr Andrea Lampis is driving forward research in this area. This image, captured by Andrea, shows immune cells grouping together in neuroblastoma. B cells are creating round structures that produce antibodies, and these are surrounded by helper and killer T cells.

Andrea’s work is generously supported by the Team Luke Foundation in memory of Luke Bell, who was eight years old when he passed away from neuroblastoma.

We are proud and humbled to be undertaking research as part of his legacy.”
