Nehemias Guevara Rodriguez: Grateful to be Among This Year’s LUNGevity Research Award Recipients!

Nehemias Guevara Rodriguez, Chief Fellow, Hematology and Medical Oncology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, shared LUNGevity Foundation’s post on LinkedIn, adding:

“Thrilled and deeply grateful to be among this year’s LUNGevity research award recipients!

It is an honor to join this inspiring group of investigators working toward better outcomes for people affected by lung cancer.

As an international medical graduate pursuing a career in academic thoracic oncology, this milestone means so much to me.

A heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Narjust Florez M.D. FASCO and Dr. Coral Olazagasti for their mentorship, encouragement, and the example they set.

Seeing their impact inspires me to keep growing, pursue research that matters to patients, and help open doors for others.

I also want to thank Dr. Martin Schoen, Dr. Theodore Thomas, Dr. Asha Ricciuti, MD MSMedEd, and Dr. Kunwor, as well as my program director, Dr. Nabeel Rajeh, for his encouragement and support throughout my training.

Thank you to LUNGevity Foundation, its donors, and its partners for believing in emerging investigators and making this work possible.

Most of all, thank you to the patients who give our research its purpose.
Congratulations to my fellow award recipients – excited for the work ahead!”

Quoting LUNGevity Foundation’s post:

“Research saves lives.

LUNGevity is proud to invest another $2 million in research to bring the next generation of breakthroughs to people affected by lung cancer.

These awards will support scientists working to detect lung cancer earlier, predict which treatments are most likely to work, overcome drug resistance, and make care more precise, durable, and accessible.

The expert-vetted projects also strengthen the research workforce and advance new strategies for treating RET-positive cancers and EGFR-positive lung cancer.

We are grateful to our donors and partners for supporting these strategic lung cancer research projects that keep the patients’ needs at the center of the work.
