“As conversations around 340B reform continue, NCODA remains committed to a patient-centered approach that strengthens the program while preserving its original purpose.
NCODA’s position is guided by several key principles:
- The benefit must follow patients.
- A clear, nationally consistent patient definition is essential to ensure 340B benefits reach the patients the program was intended to serve.
- NCODA supports strengthening and modernizing the 340B program through greater accountability, transparency, and measurable patient benefit, not simply expanding the program.
- NCODA recognizes reform efforts, including The Alliance to Save America’s 340B Program (ASAP 340B: ASAP 340B supports comprehensive reforms to ensure the 340B program benefits patients and providers caring for underserved communities. The following policy principles reflect the consensus of our members and will guide efforts to realign the 340B program in the interest of true safety-net providers and the communities they serve.), that seek to preserve the program’s safety-net purpose while advancing greater transparency and accountability.
- Success should be measured by improved patient access, outcomes, and affordability.
- Medically integrated oncology care should be recognized and supported as a model that improves coordination and outcomes for patients with cancer.Read the full NCODA Position Statement: NCODA Position Statement on 340B: The Benefit Must Follow Patients.”
