“What’s scarier: Going for a mammogram or missing an early cancer detection? Fear of pain or receiving a cancer diagnosis, costs and busy schedules are some of the top reasons Singaporeans delay or avoid screenings.
The latest National Population Health Survey shows screening participation here for breast, colorectal and cervical cancers remain considerably behind international benchmarks.
In a commentary published in the Straits Times. Ravindran Kanesvaran, Chairman and Senior Consultant, Division of Medical Oncology, NCCS, sheds light on why cancer screening rates remain low, the importance of screening and what is being done to improve participation.
