NCCS and Singapore Cancer Society Partner to Expand Lung Cancer Screening Study SOLSTICE

National Cancer Centre Singapore shared a post on LinkedIn:

“As we observe Lung Cancer Awareness Month this November, we are excited to share that NCCS and Singapore Cancer Society have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen our collaborative efforts in lung cancer initiatives, including the expansion of SOLSTICE, Singapore’s first local lung cancer screening study.

Lung cancer is one of the top 3 cancers affecting both men and women in Singapore, with approximately 60% of cases detected in advanced stages. To address this, NCCS launched the SOLSTICE study, which uses low-dose CT scans (LDCT) to detect lung cancer early. Results will help determine the effectiveness of lung cancer screening in at-risk local populations.

The NCCS-SCS MOU boosts efforts to increase awareness of lung cancer and includes joint education and outreach efforts to encourage eligible at-risk individuals to enroll in the SOLSTICE study. This collaboration also aligns advocacy and education efforts, bringing together NCCS programmes like Lung Cancer Education and Advocacy for Patients (LEAP) and the Lung Cancer Consortium Singapore (LCCS) with SCS’s Cancer Care Innovation and Cancer Advocacy teams.

SOLSTICE is part of the NMRC-supported OF-LCG research programme Conquering Lung Cancer Across all stages with Research and InnovatiON (CLARION). Currently available at SingHealth institutions with plans to expand across other healthcare clusters, find out more about SOLSTICE here.”
