Navneet Singh, Tenured Professor of Pulmonology/Thoracic Oncology at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Philip J Landrigan et al. published in The Lancet:
“Just read the highlighted sentences from the abstract of this publication, ‘Grave, growing and under-recognized danger to human and planetary health’. More alarming details are in the full text of this manuscript.
The need to cut down plastic use in our lives cannot be overemphasized. For starters’ sake,
- Take a metal/aluminum bottle while traveling – almost all airports and railway stations have outlets to fill drinking water.
- Dining out – ask the restaurant to give you water in their glass bottles.
- Carry your own leather/jute bags for groceries
Also, IMO it’s far more important to bring to everyone’s attention such data and manuscripts that have profound implications for everyone in day-to-day life rather than ‘Hot off the press’, ‘Hot off the press’ proclamation of another self-authored publication (akin to selling popcorns in a movie theatre) which a few people can be observed doing on social media.”
