Nataliya Kovalchuk, Clinical Professor at Stanford Radiation Oncology, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Successful Completion of the ESTRO-Endorsed Radiobiology Course for Ukraine.

We are delighted to announce the successful completion of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO)-endorsed virtual course ‘Radiobiology through the Eyes of Radiation Oncologists‘ for Ukrainian radiation oncologists, clinical oncologists, and medical physicists.

This initiative was organized by Help Ukraine Group (HUG) under the leadership of Prof. Anna Dubrovska and A/Prof. Natalka Suchowerska, with support from Swecare.

From March 3 to May 12, 2026, the course brought together 185 participants from across Ukraine and leading international experts in radiobiology and radiation oncology.

Heartfelt thanks to our faculty, especially Prof. Anna Dubrovska and A/Prof. Natalka Suchowerska, for their vision, leadership, and commitment to advancing oncology education in Ukraine.

Course Outcomes (185 participants):

  • Average pre-course exam score: 59.4%
  • Average post-course exam score: 89.1%
  • Average improvement: +29.7%
  • Reported changes in clinical practice based on acquired knowledge: 71.4%
  • Overall course satisfaction: 9.4/10
  • Would recommend the course to colleagues: 97.6%
  • Felt the course was necessary for professional success: 92.9%

Participant Feedback

‘This course significantly expanded my understanding of modern radiobiology and its practical clinical applications.’

‘The lectures were highly inspiring and helped connect radiobiological concepts with everyday clinical decision-making.’

‘An exceptional educational initiative with world-class faculty and highly relevant topics.’

‘The course helped me better understand personalized radiotherapy and the future direction of radiation oncology.’

‘I deeply appreciate the opportunity to learn from international experts despite the difficult circumstances in Ukraine.’

This course would not have been possible without the resilience and dedication of the Ukrainian participants, who continued learning and advancing professionally despite war, missile attacks, blackouts, and extraordinary challenges. Their perseverance continues to inspire the global oncology community.

It was an honor to organize this initiative, and we hope it serves as a model for strengthening oncology education and international collaboration in conflict-affected and resource-limited settings worldwide.”
