Muaiad Kittaneh: Genomic Diversity Is Central to Therapeutic Discovery and Drug Development

Muaiad Kittaneh, Global Head of RandD and Scintific Strategy at Syneos Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:

BIO International Convention 2026 has been a strong reminder that the future of drug-development depends on more than breakthrough science alone.

Several themes stood out across the sessions and conversations.

Genomic diversity is not only an equity issue. It is central to therapeutic discovery, target validation, biomarker development, and our ability to develop therapies that can meaningfully serve the full diversity of patients.

AI-enabled innovation is also moving quickly, but its real value will come from thoughtful integration into clinical strategy, trial design, patient engagement, and operational decision-making, not technology for its own sake.

A separate but equally important message came through during Gary Sinise’s conversation on purpose, service, and advocacy. His reflections, including the story behind his upcoming book Graceful Warrior, were a reminder that behind every disease, every diagnosis, and every clinical trial are patients, families, caregivers, and communities carrying extraordinary burdens.

That is ultimately what gives this work its urgency.

The science matters. The strategy matters. The execution matters. But the purpose behind it matters just as much.

Grateful for the opportunity to connect with colleagues, partners, and industry leaders at BIO International 2026, and to be part of conversations focused on accelerating development, improving trial participation, and bringing therapies to patients faster and more effectively.”
