Mount Sinai Department of Medicine shared a post on LinkedIn:
“An integrated hematology/oncology and palliative medicine fellowship program, made possible by a collaboration between the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Mount Sinai Tisch Cancer Center, is one of few in the country. This pilot program is on its way to becoming a formalized track for physicians to specialize in both fields.
As advances in cancer treatment continue to extend survival for patients with advanced disease, the need for physicians trained to deliver both life-prolonging therapies and comprehensive, compassionate care is growing.
With only a small number of dual-certified specialists nationwide, this innovative program is helping close a critical gap – preparing clinicians to better support patients across the full continuum of care while advancing research and education at the intersection of oncology and palliative medicine.”
