“Patients with myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasms have higher rates of relapse following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation compared to those with MDS: A Brazilian SBTMO/CIBMTR registry analysis | Bone Marrow Transplantation.
- Registry study (n=570): 16.5% had MDS/MPN vs 83.5% MDS
- MDS/MPN pts older, worse performance status Inferior outcomes vs MDS: OS 41.9% vs 59.7%, RFS 39.2% vs 56.6% (~25 mo)
- Higher relapse drives worse outcomes; NRM similar (trend increased in MDS/MPN
- MDS/MPN = independent risk factor for worse RFS.
- Confirms adverse prognosis – need better transplant strategies.”
