Morena Fasano, Medical Director at L. Vanvitelli University Hospital, Second Polyclinic of Naples, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today in Bari, in the framework of the XXXIX Meeting of GOIM Researchers, I had the pleasure of presenting the results of the retrospective multicenter study: ‘Optimizing Immunotherapy Efficacy in Recurrent/Metastatic HNSCC: A Multicenter Real-World Study from Three Italian Academic Institutions’.
The speech represented the update of the project of the GOIM Youth working group (head-neck session) that I have the honor of coordinating. Starting from the analysis of 254 patients treated in the first line with immunotherapy regimens, the aim was to validate the transferability of the data from the pivotal KN048 trial in the real-world population. We analyzed the efficacy stratified by CPS and the impact of determining variables such as age, ECOG PS, lifestyle and concomitant treatments.
Special thanks to Dr. A. Cirillo (Sapienza Oncology) and Dr. A. Di Bello (Gemelli Oncology) for the precious collaboration. Thanks also to the 5 centers that have joined the project in recent days: this synergy has allowed us to reach a database of 361 patients, which is essential for deepening the analyses on the CPS 1-19 subgroup and on the treatment sequences.
The project remains open: anyone who wants to join and contribute to this research is welcome! The combination of case studies is the key to generating increasingly robust and impactful real-world data.”
