“Home from the whirlwind of the ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology Annual meeting, and our team is still buzzing from a truly monumental conference.
I’ve been to so many medical meetings in my AstraZeneca career. But no matter whether it’s the first one or the fifteenth, there are always moments that take my breath away. There’s no equivalent for being in that hushed auditorium, hearing practice-changing data readouts, and knowing what it means for thousands of patients facing breast, bladder, and gastric cancer. I’m always awestruck by the impact we’re making on people – real people, not just points on a data chart – by pushing the boundaries of science.
At ESMO, I was reminded that we meet patients during the most challenging times of their lives. And we are uncovering new treatment options that may transform their prognosis, by extending their lives and quality of life. No one on my team takes that impact for granted.
