I was truly honored to participate in the 2026 Annual Conference of the Africa HepatoPancreatoBiliary Cancer Consortium (AHPBCC) held in Abuja, Nigeria. This event was a remarkable gathering of minds dedicated to transforming the landscape of liver cancer care across the continent.
During the conference, I had the privilege of presenting Egypt’s National Program for HCC Surveillance and Management. It was inspiring to share our journey and achievemens.
Beyond sharing our experience, the discussions in Abuja centered on a crucial path forward:
African collaboration and it was a great pleasure to meet professors Ghassan Abou-Alfa and Lewis Roberts and many thanks for Professor Ashraf Omar for his kind invitation.
The burden of HCC in Africa is significant, but by integrating our efforts, sharing data-driven strategies, and fostering knowledge exchange, we can build more resilient surveillance frameworks across the continent.
I am excited about the potential partnerships sparked during this conference and look forward to turn our shared vision- a future with significantly reduced liver cancer mortality- into a reality.”
