“Today, Wendy Brooks and Larry Brooks shared their journey of facing small cell lung cancer together as a patient and care partner to the IASCLC-Young Investigators research meeting Benjamin B. Morris, Peter Ujhazy, in partnership with Small Cell SMASHERS and Lungevity.
Small cell lung cancer advocacy is not separate from SCLC research. Advocacy through empowering patients impacted by SCLC is what helps amplify advancements made and focus our future research efforts in SCLC.
Our SCLC trials and translational basic research should include their voice, their journey, addressing the obstacles and challenges they face, and understanding what matters most to those impacted by SCLC.
Advocacy raises awareness, focuses and drives funding, amplifies the patient voice through sharing their experiences, helps to engage scientific talent, and creates urgency that is so desperately needed to accelerate discovery for our patients and their loved ones who need critical research the most.
Small Cell SMASHERS brings together patients, advocates, researchers, physician scientists, and clinicians with one shared goal: to change the trajectory of small cell lung cancer.
Together, we will change SCLC.”
