Misty Dawn Shields, Assistant Professor at Indiana University School of Medicine, shared a post on X:
“Is there a role for stigma in lung cancer?
What about in small cell lung cancer?
No!
1) No one deserves lung cancer.
2) Lung cancer can impact anyone with lungs, that’s everyone!
3) Stigma hurts others with tangible negative impacts – delays in screening, follow ups, treatments and impacts how patients feel.
Stigma, out the door. You’re not welcome here.”
